    The 11 Minute Rule

At times I would spend hour after hour, day after day, and week after week putting things off. I would make endless excuses such as not having enough time, not considering the task to be of importance, and making up other excuses that are simply too embarrassing to mention icon sad The 11 Minute Rule And yet when I finally started the task, I wondered why in the world I had put it off for so long.

Today I use the 11 Minute Rule. I tell myself that I will work on the task for ONLY 11 minutes, and then if I choose to I will stop – or NOT. It’s funny though, how 11 minutes soon turns into 30 minutes, 1 hour, and by the time I know it the task is done icon smile The 11 Minute Rule

Making Sense of the Pareto Principle

I first came across the Pareto Principle (otherwise known as the 80/20 Rule) while studying Marketing at University. It states that 80% of “effects” come from 20% of the “causes”.

This means that 80% of the tasks I focus on will result in 20% of the outcomes I experience. Therefore in order to boost my effectiveness throughout the day I must begin focusing on the 20% of tasks that will reap me 80% of the rewards – and sleep the rest of the day icon wink Making Sense of the Pareto Principle
