    You Alone Control Your Perspective

People often and unnecessarily waste their Emotions and Time dwelling upon things that they cannot Change or Control. Subsequently this makes them feel Inadequate, Incapable and Overwhelmed. What’s the point? Either focus on something else, or change your Perspective of the situation immediately. Life is simply too short to waste our thoughts on things that we simply have no influence over.

    Overcoming Emotional Turbulence

There have been many moments in my life when the forces of CHANGE decided to pull my life apart unexpectedly. During these times I would attempt to maintain my composure under the emotional turbulence by grounding myself in Familiarity – in things that provided me with a Sense of Purpose.

I would involve myself in activities that enabled me to gain a Sense of Certainty over my life. Furthermore, I would turn and consciously Reframe the Uncertainty of CHANGE into purposeful action that allowed me to perceive my circumstances as only one thread of a Bigger Canvas that I didn’t yet fully understand or comprehend.

This SENSE OF PURPOSE subsequently provided me with the confidence I needed to calm my emotions and focus on the journey ahead.

    Change Persona… Transform Your Perspective

I know that if I can change the way I feel about a certain situation, person or about my life, that I can effectively begin to see things from a different perspective, which can effectively open a flood of new opportunities that I hadn’t noticed before.

One of the best methods I have found that allows me to do this is to begin viewing my circumstances from a different Persona, eg. I would perceive my circumstances as a Child, as a Scientist, as an Artist, as a Detective, as a Professional Athlete, or as a Billionaire Entrepreneur, etc.

For instance I would ask myself:

    - How would a Child perceive this situation?
    - How would they feel about these circumstances?
    - What kinds of questions would they ask that would enable them to move forward proactively?

    The Secret to Happiness

There is really only one secret to Happiness. And that is Perspective.

No matter what is going on around me, no matter what problems I face, no matter how many people criticize me, judge me, or try to break me down emotionally, it doesn’t matter and it certainly doesn’t affect my level of happiness. And that’s because of my Perspective.

I see Problems as Challenges that make me better, tougher, stronger and more resilient than ever before. I hear Criticism and this Motivates me to prove others wrong. I even feel the emotional baggage that others dump on my shoulders and I understand at that very moment that it’s NOT ABOUT ME, but rather ALL ABOUT THEM! And so I smile :) fully knowing that happiness rests securely in my hands :)

Disappointment Helps Put Things in Perspective

I am disappointed because the World seems to be conspiring against me… because nobody will listen to me… because everything I do turns to rubbish… because for some reason I can never do things right, and I struggle to understand the stupidity of my decisions and actions.

    And yet…

I am fortunate because disappointment has given me time to reflect on how effective my expectations, decisions and actions have been; it has provided me with an opportunity to identify where I need to improve my level of knowledge, skill or abilities; it has enabled me to consider a different perspective; and it has helped me to clarify if what I want is really what I want, or maybe it’s only what I THINK I WANT and therefore I don’t know why I’m feeling disappointed in the first place??? ;)

Anxiety is Only an Interpretation of Reality

I have suffered from bouts of anxiety many times over. It causes the heart to race, the temperature to rise, and the body to shake. Moreover it has stifled my progress and prevented me from stepping outside of my Comfort Zone.

However, I do now realize that anxiety is just like any other emotion – it’s simply an interpretation I have made about circumstances that has forced me to feel this way. Hence, if I change my interpretation or the MEANING of my experience, I will therefore be better able to control how my body responds – and consequently reduce or eliminate my feelings of anxiety altogether.

The Key is to Ask Better Questions.

Begin Living Like a Child Today

What if… today I decided to live my life as a Child?
    What would I do?
How would I spend my time?
How would I think differently about my life?
    What decisions would I make?
What decisions would I not need to make? ;)
How would I overcome my emotional blocks?
What would I believe about myself, others and the goals that I would like to achieve?
What would I value most about my life?
How would I treat others? and… what kind of questions would I ask myself that could help me find simple solutions to the problems confronting my reality?…

What if I was a Child all over again? Just Imagine the Possibilities :)

Maybe the Perfect Moment is NOW

What is the perfect time to achieve my goals?
What is the perfect moment to begin moving towards my dreams?
    Is there a perfect moment?
    Is there a right time?
Or is every moment perfect, and MY PERSPECTIVE of that moment MAKES IT WHAT IT IS?

Maybe the perfect time is today…
Maybe the perfect moment is NOW… and maybe within this moment there is an ideal opportunity waiting for me that will not present itself ever again… OR maybe the Perfect Moment shall never come, but why should this stop me from taking my chances and making it a lot of fun :)

Vocabulary = Emotions = Biased Perspectives

While studying Life Coaching, one of the very first lessons we learned was to become consciously aware of the language we were using on a daily basis while talking to ourselves and our clients.

Every word we speak contains within it an Emotional Response that vibrates though our entire body.

Every word we speak shapes our beliefs, habits & personality.

Therefore: Vocabulary = Emotions = Biased Perspectives

    The 30 Second Stress Response

I have come to the realization that stress is only an interpretation I have made about events and circumstances – real or imagined. Moreover, how I respond to this perceived stress within the first 30 seconds of the event taking place will essentially determine how I feel about it for the remainder of the day.

These 30 seconds become very critical to my long-term sanity ;)
