Vocabulary = Emotions = Biased Perspectives

While studying Life Coaching, one of the very first lessons we learned was to become consciously aware of the language we were using on a daily basis while talking to ourselves and our clients.

Every word we speak contains within it an Emotional Response that vibrates though our entire body.

Every word we speak shapes our beliefs, habits & personality.

Therefore: Vocabulary = Emotions = Biased Perspectives

    The Automated Emotional Switch

At times during the day an emotional switch is flicked and I suddenly end up feeling dissatisfied with myself and my life. In the past I struggled to understand how I could suddenly go from feeling happy and fulfilled to sad and dissatisfied within moments for no apparent reason.

Today I realize that this occurs mainly due to emotional anchors that were triggered at an unconscious level of awareness.

    Breaking through Frustration

Frustration is a common emotion that we all tend to experience from time-to-time. Yet oftentimes it is very much a misunderstood emotion that is incorrectly interpreted and poorly managed.

Feeling frustrated is actually a sign that you are on the right path as long as you keep moving forward with persistence while incorporating flexible thinking tactics.

    The 30 Second Stress Response

I have come to the realization that stress is only an interpretation I have made about events and circumstances – real or imagined. Moreover, how I respond to this perceived stress within the first 30 seconds of the event taking place will essentially determine how I feel about it for the remainder of the day.

These 30 seconds become very critical to my long-term sanity icon wink The 30 Second Stress Response

    Imagine Posing Naked

Imagine you were posing naked in front of people.

    - What would you think? See? Hear?
    - What would you say to yourself?
    - How would you see the World?

When we remove the layers of clothing i.e. “emotional masks” – that hide our true selves from society, we begin to see the world in a new light. In fact we begin to see ourselves as we really are, and that in itself is one of the greatest gifts that we could ever receive.

    Reassessing Disappointment

Should we really EVER experience the emotion of disappointment?
Isn’t disappointment nothing more than a biased interpretation of events and circumstances?
Isn’t disappointment simply an inability to think creatively and flexibly about our predicament?

When I feel disappointed I immediately look for a solution; look for the seed of opportunity to learn, grow and become more as a result of this experience.
